E-C MIX RECORDS PRODUCES ALBUM FOR MOST USAID

FOR IT'S FOOD FORTIFICATION AND "SANGKAP PINOY" SEAL PROGRAMS

MOST, the USAID Micronutrient Program in the Philippines, supported the City of Marikina last July 27, 2005 for its jingle making contest in line with the celebration of the Nutrition Month. Marikina City, is the first city with a local ordinance in support of the government's food fortification program. This was participated by the Marikina City's public and private high schools. The jingle making contest was aimed at creating awareness and understanding of the food fortification and Sangkap Pinoy seal programs at the same time getting the involvement of the youth in championing for the food fortification program.

The first top ten (10) entries was given a chance to record their jingles professionally, sponsored by MOST USAID. The album had it's first recording session last 2nd September at the Asiatec Pink Noise Recording Studios and is being produced by E-C Mix Records' Darrell James and will be distributed by MOST USAID through its projects, events, and campaigns to further promote the program.

Participating in this album are Concepcion High School, National Christian Life College, Marikina Heights High School, Marikina High School, Parang High School, Roosevelt College of Marikina, Our Lady of Perpetual Succor College (OLOPSC), and Mother of Divine Providence.

Dear All,

Well, this is my usual “after production” letter. A casual letter that I usually write to the artist that I produced an album for, more like a “thank you” letter. In this case, since the album that we all made comprises of materials that were done by different groups, so I thought of just writing an open letter for everyone.

First off, I would like to thank everyone involved in this project – all the schools, to the Municipality Office of Marikina City (for the positive response to our production and for supporting the whole program of Food Fortification), the Marikina City Health Office (Thanks for always visiting us in the studio and taking our pics. Where’s my CD copy of those pics you promised?), and of course MOST USAID, the guys who made this all possible. This was a very unique project that I have ever produced. I never realized how great, talented, and promising high school students are today. You made me look back and reminisce my high school days. Hehehe! We all had a great time and we had tons of laughs!

OLOPSC, what can I say? Congratulations for winning the jingle-making contest. Continue to flourish and conquer.

NCLC. I think we did a pretty good job with your song! I would say that this is one of my favorites in the album. To Jessel Sarte and John Casipit, I love your voices. Definitely would love to work with you guys again in the future. Keep in touch.

Concepcion High. Yo! Wazzup Hommies?! I like the way you wrote the lyrics. Didn’t I say the beat box would come in good with the song? It did! Very talented guys. You are the very first group to record. I had fun and I hope you do too. You keep it all up. I would love to work with you again someday too. Let’s make some demos!

Marikina Heights. Your song turned out great! Totally different from the ones you performed in the competition. Nice vocal lead by Gladys Adique. You added a different feel to it. Love it! Wag pabayaan ang boses. You have a nice one too. Train more.

Mother Of Divine Providence. I like your song. Catchy and upbeat. I was impressed that you can make good song with a nice hook to it. The chorus still rings in my head… (“Vitamin A, Iron at Iodine…”). Write more original stuffs. You can send it to me for music publishing. Good job on the vocal lead too by Melanie Salac and Carmina Milla. The whole choral group is nice too. Hand claps to Sister! Thumbs up!

Marikina High. For days, the lyrics and melody “Wag kumain ng chichirya” was stucked in my head! Hahaha! Nice job!

Parang High. I like what you did with the medley. “Ayayay! Wag dyan!” Hehehe! Love that! I forgot the name of the girl who played the drums (sorry po!). She did a pretty good job on that and can be a very good drummer in time. Keep it up!

Roosevelt College Marikina. Ahhh! My most favorite group and the last group that I recorded. I remember when I came to the studio for our session. I thought there was no one in yet. The lounge and the studio are very quiet. Very well behaved and does exactly what I asked them to do. Very easy to work with. They know when to have fun and when to be serious and get down to work. Special mentions: Romil Sampayo (I call him “bunso”) hope when I see you again your beat box is even more complex. Hehehe! Stevenson Besorio, don’t sing bass. You have a good timbre. I find you very potential to develop more on your singing. Would love to help you improve. I had great times with all of you guys. Hope to see you all again. Kita-kits sa Friendster! Hehehe! Pati na din sa e-mails, sa Yahoo Messenger, at sa text. Just keep in touch!

Lastly, let us all thank your respective schools for giving you the chance to participate and for being supportive of this project. Remember, not everyone is given a chance for a recording. So whenever you have the opportunity, grab it!

OK, I think that’s about it. Balitaan tayo ha? I would love to hear from all of you again. You can e-mail me at dj @ ecmix.com. Stay in school and finish your studies. Be good! And most importantly…. Stay Healthy! (Basta yung may Sangkap Pinoy Seal lang ha?! Hehe)

All the best… your friend,
